Getting started with Luna

Welcome to Luna, your AI-powered flashcard assistant!

To get you started with using Luna, here’s a really quick overview of the 5 main things to know.

  1. Luna organises flashcards into collections - you create a collection and add cards to it. Each collection can have its own name, colour and scheduling options (more of this in a bit). You can also set a start and end date for each collection, so Luna can then work out a schedule to get you up to speed in time for a specific date.
  2. The process of testing how well you know your flashcards is called a review in Luna. This is where the learning happens and the key is to do review your flashcards regularly. There is some special sauce that Luna can add to work out how regularly you need to review cards in order to best learn them….
  3. Smart scheduling is what we call that special sauce. Essentially this works out when to review each cards based on how well you know it (referred to as your card confidence rating) and how long ago you last reviewed the card. Luna also adds in the option to personalise this if you think you find learning new information more or less difficult than average.
  4. We’ve kept things flexible so that you can choose how best to use Luna, so if you don’t think that smart scheduling works best for you, you can also choose to set a custom schedule, or even to just carry out reviews whenever you want to.
  5. Finally, and it’s a big one, Luna uses AI to create flashcards for you. This means that you can paste in the text that you need to learn and Luna will pull out the key insights then use these to create flashcards. And, for a pro tip, you don’t actually need to paste in a load of text. You can just type in a the name of something specific, like say photosynthesis, and Luna will create a bunch of cards about that topic.

That’s it - you should now be ready to jump in and start creating flashcards and reviews, and crucially, to start learning. And if you want some more information about how Luna helps, just type active recall into the flashcard generator and see what it comes up with.
